We are seeking reliable Courier Drivers to assist in fulfilling contracts in place with some of the UK’s largest courier companies. Our ideal candidates will be responsible for the timely delivery of parcels, goods and packages to various locations. We expect these candidates to have a reasonable level of fitness (you will be expected to make deliveries up to 30kg per parcel); have great timekeeping; be reliable; have excellent communication skills; a commitment to health and safety; and, above all else, to be excellent and skilled drivers. We cover an incredibly large area ranging from Arbroath; the Angus Glens; Dundee; to Perth; Pitlochry; St. Andrews; and Glenrothes. You will be making these deliveries in company provided 3.5t long-wheelbase vans (e.g. Ford Transits, MAN TGEs, Maxus Deliver9s).
DUTIES
- Operate delivery vehicles to transport goods safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload items, ensuring that all packages are handled with care and delivered in good condition.
- Navigate routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while adhering to traffic regulations.
- Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status, potential delays, or issues that may arise during transport.
- Collect accurate PODs upon delivery.
- Conduct daily checks on vehicles to ensure they are in good working order, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
You will start at the depot about an hour before your depart time to load up your van, making sure it is loaded in a way to make things easier once on the road. You will raise any issues with parcels with your allocated Route Manager. Once you’re fully loaded and signed out, you will head out on the road for between 5-7 hours making your deliveries (covering anywhere between 35 and 100 miles, and delivering up to 150 parcels!). When you have finished your route, you will return to the depot to unload any collections or unsuccessful deliveries and sort out any issues from when you were out on the road before parking up your vehicle and returning home.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Full UK Driving Licence (unfortunately we cannot accept Automatic Only licences at this time) with no more than 3 penalty points, held for at least 3 years (no CD, DR, DG or IN related endorsements).
- Be over the age of 23.
- Availability for weekend working on a rota basis (we operate 7 days per week).
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Pass initial and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings.
- Ability to commute to your starting depot location in Dundee.
- Previous experience of multi drop delivery work is ideal with the likes of DHL, DPD, FedEx, Amazon, DX but we are very much keen to speak to those new to the industry.
- Ability to provide 2 references (we will not contact them in the first instance, and will only do so once we have advised we are interested in progressing).
Please note these are employed positions (if you wish to discuss the opportunity as a contractor on a part-time basis to supplement other work, this can be discussed at interview stage). As the business grows, there will be opportunities to provide cover at our other locations across Scotland.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
- 7% pension contribution.
- Access to Pirx, giving you discounts from multiple major retailers.
- Company vehicle (no access for personal use).
- Fuel card (company fuel use only).
- Uniform.
- Competitive pay rates.
We are looking to fill several positions, and working patterns will be a minimum of 3 days per week (if you are looking for part time work then this is ideal) up to 6 days per week. All applications must have a CV attached to be considered. The interview process will be an initial telephone call to discuss the role, followed by a face-to-face interview with our Operations Manager, followed by a driving assessment.
