The Standard is a media company that offers news and culture for Londoners, everywhere. We deliver content through digital, audio, video, and social platforms, as well as a new weekly print product called The London Standard. We also create live experiences and events and collaborate with a number of OOH partners. Our headquarters are located in Finsbury Square, London.

To be a football reporter for the Standard across all platforms, delivering the very best coverage of London’s teams and beyond.

Key responsibilities:
  • Set the agenda by breaking football news stories across the capital and beyond.
  • Work as our lead reporter on one of London’s top clubs.
  • Cover all of London’s clubs and beyond as required.
  • Help cover the England teams at home and abroad as required.
  • Deliver the most insightful comment and analysis across the capital’s clubs.
  • Bring in exclusive interviews with leading figures across the sport.
  • Be comfortable working in all mediums - written, audio and video.
  • Drive and actively promote content on all platforms.
  • Maximise audience engagement, utilising SEO and social-media strategies.
  • Develop new content that lends itself to sponsorship and commercial opportunity.
  • Run live blogs.
  • Work editing shifts as required.
  • Represent the Evening Standard at reader/commercial/industry events.
  • Work directly into the CMS and post stories on the website.
  • Cover other sports as required.

  • Experienced multi-skilled football reporter, committed to working to the highest standards.
  • Have deep knowledge of London’s football clubs and a strong network of contacts.
  • Will be a ‘digital-first’ journalist.

You will set the highest standards for our football reporting across all platforms and media. You will be as comfortable operating in front of camera, at events and in audio as with the written word. Your comment and analysis will be as incisive as your news reporting. You will commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
