Create has partnered with a luxury brand, whose aesthetic is a fusion between luxe and leisurewear, a perfect equilibrium of comfort and elegance.

Position: Junior Art Director for men’s/womenswear

Location: London (Full-time, office-based)

Reports to: Art Director

Collaborates with: Lead Creatives (Creative Director, Art Director), Illustrators, Print team, and other departments

About the Role: This role supports the direction of the seasonal collections by researching references, themes and products in line with the brief and inspiration from the Creative Director. It involves collecting visual ideas, sketching and presenting back an actionable plan to formalise a direction for the wider Creative team while seeing through the end-to-end process of artwork needed for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visual Research: Conduct in-depth research based on cultural themes, references, or specific design concepts producing a pack used throughout the business which presents the creative concepts for the season.
  • Physical and digital mood boards: Keeping these relevant throughout the creative development showing progress to Design, Merchandising and Product Development to serve as an active point of reference.
  • Sketching: Mocking up concepts for prints and artworks and applying them through the full product range. Ability to quickly work-up multiple sketches to then be refined in detail.
  • Directing Illustrators: Building a collaborative relationship with the Illustrators, giving them concept sketches and guiding their work to fit the Creative Director’s vision. Finessing and moulding the artworks ready for feedback meeting the house’s standards and prestigious style.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the Print team to ensure the concept is accurately executed, providing a clear brief for each shirt and reviewing mock-ups before they are submitted for approval.
  • Creativity and organisation: Foster creative ideas while maintaining a clear understanding of timelines and priorities. Plan ahead to anticipate the needs of creative leaders, ensuring productive and effective creative sessions. Keep Project Management reporting programs updated with progress.
  • Colour palette: Own the colours for each season actively proposing a cohesive range ahead of the business demands for use on products and within the artworks.

Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Degree in Arts, Fashion or related discipline.
  • Experience: 5+ years in a luxury brand or agency with an international outlook.
  • Skills & Characteristics: Confident and skilled at connecting with others to share information. Organised and ability to drive a team towards a list of deliverables. Exceptional observational skills with an eye for detail, composition and colours. Ability to adapt and collaborate with a team, taking and giving constructive feedback. Strong understanding of the luxury market and emerging cultural trends, with a proactive approach to staying current and adaptable in this fast-evolving space. Excellent time management and communication skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Capable of using design software to communicate and develop visual ideas, with the foundational knowledge to translate concepts into visual presentations.
