Our high-performing Finance team have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join us in Bristol. The role will provide an efficient and customer focused payables service, ensuring effective and accurate processing of council tax bills. You will be a subject matter expert, ensuring both internal and external customer needs are met whilst enabling councils to be paid as per the agreed terms.
What You`ll Be Doing
- Build and maintain relationships with councils and internal stakeholders to enable accurate processing of invoices and timely/accurate settlement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for council tax, offering expertise and guidance to support successful annual processing of bills/exemptions.
- Support any business training activities in the payables area for council tax as required, as well as ensuring documentation is maintained and up to date.
- Take a positive approach to change within the business, generating and implementing ideas for continuous process improvement for council tax processing across the portfolio.
- Support with any audit queries as required.
- Provide management information to support functional and business decisions.
- Management of all council tax related activities to ensure bills are queried and actions/paid in accordance with the business process/needs.
- Liaising with the wider AP team to ensure timely, accurate and efficient processing and payment of council tax related documents.
- Query management on council tax related queries.
- Clearing of the prepayment log for council tax related items.
- Working with stakeholders and budget holders to confirm/verify liabilities.
- Maintenance of our app ensuring duplicates are dealt with and actioned accordingly.
What We`re Looking for in You
- Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A passion for delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work at a fast pace with a high level of accuracy.
- Comfortable working within a changing environment, managing priorities effectively.
- Strong IT skills including Excel.
