Our client is a successful and expanding Building Services Consultancy, operating throughout the South of England. With over 20 years of experience, they have worked on a diverse range of projects in healthcare, education, residential care, historic buildings, industrial schemes and more, with a commitment to delivering sustainable solutions to help their clients achieve net zero carbon emissions.
The company has been recently acquired by a well-respected UK engineering firm, and the new owners have ambitious plans for continued growth. As such they are now seeking an experienced Associate Director to take over the daily management of the business, responsible for strategic growth, fostering client relationships, overseeing administrative functions, and supporting the technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in Mechanical / Electrical engineering to join an already well-established company at the start of an exciting new phase.
The role:
- Working closely with the new owners, you will assume full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business, meeting with existing clients to nurture relationships and understand their needs.
- Drawing on your extensive construction, engineering, and design experience you will develop strategies for driving growth, and attend regular networking events to expand the client base and win new business.
- Prepare and deliver quotes for new projects and services.
- Oversee insurance, HR, accounts, invoicing, and debt collection processes.
- Manage the company website, LinkedIn presence, and client database.
- Monitor and maintain day-to-day client interactions, identifying opportunities for enhanced client engagement.
- Provide inspirational leadership across the business, with a ‘hands-on’ approach to assist technical staff with daily operational tasks as required.
Skills and experience required:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Engineering, Construction, or related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role with a focus on client liaison.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
- Strategic vision, with the ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive growth and profitability.
- Excellent leadership skills, able to guide and motivate a diverse team towards common goals.
- Proficient in negotiating contracts, agreements, and terms with clients and vendors.
- The enthusiasm and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Previous experience in a construction-based office, such as with an Architect, Structural or M&E Engineer, or Quantity Surveyor, would be an advantage.
