You're a Mechanical Engineer first and a Design Engineer second. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll work on projects from concept through to completion, getting involved hands on with production, product testing and clients - you don't want to just sit in a design office. Based in Mansfield, we develop machinery and equipment predominately for the water, gas and utilities sectors.

BASIC SALARY: up to £50,000 dependent on your experience

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

You’ll be working on a number of projects at any one time (2-3), at different stages with different engineering challenges. Your main duties will include:

  • Detailed mechanical design of new products from cradle to grave
  • Re-engineering existing products to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down and weight etc
  • Prototype testing
  • Internal stakeholder management with production

YOUR BACKGROUND:

You’ll be an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer educated to likely an HND or B.ENG in Mechanical Engineering. You will also have experience of some or all the following:

  • Running design projects from concept through to completion
  • Competent using SolidWorks (you will have a practical test at interview stage)
  • Worked closely with production and test (DfMA)
  • Handled your own material selection to include stainless steel, aluminum and mild steel
