Salary: £12.60 an hour

Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme

Contract/Hours: CASUAL hours - these hours are completed generally over weekends and during school holidays, this will mean some weeks could be more one week and less another due to the shift pattern.

About the service:

Chestnut Lodge is a 5 bed short breaks children’s home, providing short breaks to children and their families aged 8 to 18 years of age. The service supports children and young people who have various disabilities, where they can come and stay and have fun while their families have a break. This home runs term time after school clubs and has residential services that run at weekends and during school holidays. Young people get the opportunity to relax, have trips out and learn new skills while they are with us.

A bit about the role:

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance, and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential. In return we will offer you amazing opportunities to progress within our organisation. We offer an in-depth induction process and training. Alongside this, we will enrol you in the qualifications which you need to work in the industry. Regular supervision with your line manager, team meetings etc. will ensure you feel part of our team.

In this role, you will also:

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing, and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi-agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.

  • Taking responsibility for the personal care and the needs of the young person.
  • Being resilient in supporting the young person through challenging situations.
  • Being responsible for the safeguarding.

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.
  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.
  • Be flexible in your approach to working shifts.
  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years of commencing employment with us, full support will be provided.
