Are you passionate about retail and all things marine? We’re working with a well-established chandlery business on the South Coast, and they’re now looking for a proactive Assistant Manager to join their friendly team. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll be a key part in the daily running of the store. You’ll support the Chandlery Manager in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining high standards, and delivering first-class service to a loyal and knowledgeable customer base. It’s a great opportunity for someone who has a good understanding of marine products.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assisting with the day-to-day management of the store, stepping up in the Manager’s absence
- Supporting and guiding the team on the shop floor, ensuring customers get the help they need
- Helping to drive sales and maximise product visibility through merchandising and promotions
- Handling customer queries and resolving issues with a positive, solutions-focused mindset
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, health & safety, and product presentation
- Contributing to stock control, cash handling, and admin tasks where needed
- Acting as a keyholder with responsibility for opening/closing the store
About You:
- Previous retail experience
- A genuine interest in chandlery or marine products (a background in boating would be a bonus!)
- Strong people skills – confident and approachable
- Willing to get stuck in across all areas of the business
- Flexible with working hours, some Saturdays in the summer season will be required.
