We’re recruiting for an Automation Applications Engineer to join a growing CNC machine tool and automation business with a strong footprint in UK manufacturing. The company specialises in turnkey automation solutions, integrating high-performance CNC machine tools with industrial robotics to drive precision, productivity, and efficiency.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering fully integrated machining and robotic systems for customers across sectors such as aerospace, power generation, automotive, medical, and more. You’ll be based from the company’s Technology facility, with travel to customer sites across the UK as required. A full UK driving licence is essential.

The Role:

  • Programming and setting advanced CNC machine tools
  • Programming and integrating industrial robots with CNC systems
  • Building and configuring full automation cells for manufacturing customers
  • Supporting the integration of automation software with machine tools and robots
  • Leading customer pass-offs and on-site installations
  • Delivering training to customers on CNC and automation systems
  • Proving out and supporting machining/automation processes post-installation

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong CNC applications background – programming, setting, tooling, troubleshooting
  • Fanuc control experience essential; Siemens or Heidenhain is advantageous
  • Ideally a time-served engineer with 5+ years of experience in CNC turning and milling
  • Familiarity with 5-axis and multi-tasking machine tools would be a bonus
  • Exposure to Fusion 360 or similar CAM packages an advantage
  • A confident communicator with a professional approach
  • Full UK driving licence (no more than 3 points)

The Opportunity:

You don’t need prior automation or robot programming experience – full training will be provided. This is a rare chance to develop automation skills in a customer-facing role, working with the latest technology and building a long-term career in advanced manufacturing.
