About the role
As a key member of the Scotland Logistics team, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of transport planning and freight forwarding within the department. The position involves coordinating with both customers and hauliers to ensure efficient and effective service delivery while also leading the department’s strategic development. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can manage a team, drive operational excellence, and maintain high service levels across all forwarding activities.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing daily transport planning activities, including allocation of deliveries and collections across all hauliers.
- Managing and supporting the freight forwarding team to ensure smooth departmental operations and clear direction.
- Handling customer enquiries, preparing quotations, and maintaining high standards of service and response times.
- Monitoring haulier performance, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and managing payment accuracy.
- Administering all relevant documentation and systems to ensure operational efficiency and accurate record-keeping.
About you
You will bring at least five years of experience within the International Freight Forwarding or Logistics industry, with a strong operational background—ideally across all modes of transport, but with a minimum focus on European road freight. Your previous experience in transport planning will be highly beneficial, along with your solid understanding of shipping and transport operations.
You are a confident communicator and a natural team player, capable of working collaboratively across departments and with external partners. Your geographical and industry knowledge is sound, and you thrive in dynamic environments where flexibility and quick thinking are key. You have a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to remain composed under pressure, ensuring accuracy and high performance in everything you do.
