We are seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates, who are looking for a challenge and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. The role of the Copy Advice Executive will be to provide advice to advertisers, agencies and media owners to help produce advertising that is in line with the CAP Code. You will promote the CAP’s role in ensuring effective regulation and encourage the use of the Copy Advice Service to new and existing enquirers.
The Copy Advice Team advises industry practitioners on the acceptability of non-broadcast advertisements under the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (CAP Code). Although they give advice on behalf of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP), its members are employed by, and conduct some functions on behalf of, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The ASA is the UK’s independent regulator of advertising across all media.
The role will involve providing bespoke advice on enquiries, writing guidance articles and news stories, as well as giving presentations and delivering training to a range of audiences on the requirements of the CAP Code. This is a varied and interesting role, where no two days are the same!
To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to use initiative to analyse a range of information, providing prompt, accurate and confidential pre-publication advice to tight deadlines. In a community where sharing knowledge and ideas is valued, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to learn quickly, work autonomously and find creative solutions to work-related challenges whilst providing good customer service and maintaining high quality standards. You must have an ability to collaborate effectively, manage your time successfully and develop strong relationships with colleagues and enquirers alike.
We have a culture that’s open, friendly, and collaborative, with a real focus on making the right decisions in the right way and learning while we’re doing it. We welcome applications from all sections of the community, and we’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive organisation, both so we can represent everyone in the UK and so our own colleagues feel at home at work.
We welcome candidates both inside and outside of London, as we operate a hybrid working model - but office attendance in London is required for at least 40% of your contracted hours. We also support flexible working - please state your preferences in your application. To be successful in this role, a minimum of 21 hours is required.
What can we offer you?
- We are a welcoming, open, friendly and collaborative organisation.
- We offer a flexible hybrid-working environment (working 40% of your time per month from our office in Shoreditch, London).
- Holiday entitlement starts at 25 days and builds up to 30 days after five years’ service, with an option to buy or sell up to five days each year.
- We offer an extensive range of benefits, including Life Assurance, interest free season ticket loan, membership of our contributory pension scheme, childcare vouchers and membership of our Employee Assistance Programme, which provides confidential support and advice.
- We also have a number of other flexible benefits, such as dental insurance and critical illness cover, which you can choose to buy annually through our flexible benefits provider.
We are committed to supporting individual career development and all vacancies are advertised internally to give staff the opportunity to develop their careers.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, disability, gender reassignment, gender identity or expression, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. We welcome applications from all sections of the community so if you would like an interesting and varied career in media regulation and have the passion and drive to help us achieve our goal to make sure every UK ad is a responsible ad, we look forward to hearing from you soon.
