SCOPE OF ROLE
The Estimator is responsible for the timely production of detailed pricing of HV & EHV civil & cable installations up to 132kV generally in the public highway from client scope and specifications. This will require the compilation of accurate estimates from mainly first principal methods for multi-discipline works, including labour, plant, equipment, materials and sub-contract requirements during tendering and bidding.
HOW YOU'LL SUCCEED
- Review tender documents, interpret requirements and work with colleagues to develop the bid strategy.
- Identify and anticipate potential risks.
- Liaise with street works department (providing route details) to obtain Gazetteer information & Local Authority restrictions.
- Liaise with procurement to obtain aggregate, asphalt, concrete, plastic product and subcontractor pricing.
- Prepare bespoke & or Excel cost models from first principles for use when estimating, budgeting and forecasting.
- Keep cost models up to date with current rates from labour, subcontract, plant and material resources.
- Liaise with the Project and Delivery Managers to determine outputs, programme, resource, approach to pricing of schemes including site surveys if or where required.
- Tender submissions to include preparing, negotiating and analyzing costs for tenders, prepare subcontract tender enquiries & evaluation subcontract responses.
- Final bid review and sign off with Divisional Director / Senior Managers prior to submission of bid.
- All pre and post tender commercial activities, including attending post tender reviews and or BAFO meetings.
- Tender handover for successful tender to delivery team & QS as part of Project Pre-Start meeting, provide detailed build up to rates and pricing.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in estimating or equivalent or Minimum 5 years-experience in similar utilities position.
- Competent in use of MS Word & Excel.
