This is a crucial role within the Morrisons Manufacturing Health & Safety team, driving the Health & Safety Strategy resulting in clear and transparent ways of working that drive Health & Safety standards at sites today but also into the future. Supporting our colleagues to ensure everyone’s safety is at the forefront of everything they do. Integrating effectively with the site leadership team to lead compliance to Health & Safety, to ensure high colleague engagement across site(s). Whilst leading and coaching H&S Level 3 Colleagues to ensure a consistent application of the H&S Strategy. Enabling all on site to understand the site’s Health & Safety requirements and the part they play in keeping themselves and each other safe. Leading continual improvements in the sites safety culture and all aspects of Health & Safety, including policies, procedures and risk assessments. Deal with situations where safety is compromised and put in place measures to control risks, working with the site team to reduce risks to production. Take appropriate action to remove, reduce and prevent risks at site, from equipment selection, installation, commissioning, safe operating, training through to decommissioning. This is a site based role, candidates should reside close to our Deeside site, Clwyd CH5 2UA Some of your responsibilities will include: The ultimate customer are the colleagues working within our manufacturing sites, providing them with a safe working environment built on a robust health and safety management system that manages risks effectively Working in partnership with Divisional and Site management teams to drive continuous improvement in Safety Ensuring the ways of working are robust, yet simple to understand and execute, specifically: Simple, easy to understand Health & Safety procedures and ways of working Simple ways of working based on risk assessment Ensure Health & Safety and site specific risk training Holding Site Management Teams to account in terms of Health & Safety controls Ensure full compliance with all operational standards/ specifications /policy and procedures. Oversee the site Health & Safety Management System, risk assessments, policies, procedures, and audits, based on site specific information and needs Drive the Health & Safety strategy formally and informally, coaching teams and colleagues to drive a Health and Safety environment and ways of working Provide a reactive support service for serious Health & Safety issues and incidents across the division Lead in the production of Health & Safety improvement plans which include short and long term plans including accident reduction Manage contacts from authorities, working with external partners as required; Legal, Consultants etc. Develop an engagement and continuous improvement framework which facilitates the involvement of Colleagues at all levels Oversee accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, safety observations and ensure cases of occupational ill health are fully investigated using root cause analysis, and support site(s) to implement measures to prevent reoccurance This position follows a hybrid model with a 4.5 day working week* based at our manufacturing sites, with some travel to other sites and our Bradford head office. For this role, we’re looking for someone who has: Expert technical knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire Safety, its requirements and implementation with food manufacturing sites Knowledge of Statutory Compliance requirements and obligations Setting up, overseeing and training out business Health & Safety & Fire Safety and ways of working Good understanding of food safety standards A track record of achieving and building a best in class culture of health & safety in a complex organisation across multiple sites Experience operating in a multi-site manufacturing environment Experience of change management in a fast paced environment Working with internal and external stakeholders to land large projects ensuring Health & Safety is at the forefront An industry recognised qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma, conversant with the UK Health & Safety legislation
