We are looking for a Digital Inclusion Project Coordinator.
- £225 P/D Inside IR35 (Onsite in Birmingham)
- Hybrid role, travelling around Birmingham meeting different stakeholders.
- The role is 12 months initially and will require the following activities and skills:
Key Objectives and Outcomes
To manage and deliver a digital inclusion offering for a minimum of 1000 citizens that predominantly use Warm Wee Spaces across Birmingham. The digital offering will enable all citizens, whether or not they are in employment, to gain greater confidence in the use of digital tools and capabilities that enable them to be “pre-employment ready.” This will involve ensuring citizens are equipped with sufficient skills and capabilities that are currently stopping them from using the internet and other digital applications to further their life chances. While the project does not aim at directly getting citizens into jobs or training, it is intended to provide foundational digital skills for citizens to no longer consider the lack of these skills as a barrier for further employment and training opportunities. These skills will include media literacy training to enable citizens to understand the importance of digital skills. The approach recognizes that those with no access to the internet or limited skills are less likely to be in paid employment or will be on a lower income. Therefore, there will also be a focus on limited internet users, who are five times more likely to be from low-income households.
Responsibilities
- Establishing Digital Hubs: Work with Warm Wee Spaces (including Libraries, family hubs, and other multi-agency hubs) to support them to become digital hubs as part of the GoodThings Foundation network. The target is to establish up to 150 digital hubs across Birmingham.
- Creating Digital Champions: Establish digital champions at each Warm Wee Space and digital hub. The digital champions will provide train-the-trainer facilities, identify and support citizens who need basic digital skills, and provide administrative support to digital hubs.
- Uplift in Digital Skills Capability: Target 1000 citizens (starters and novices as defined by the Digital Blueprint) to access “certificated” basic essential digital skills to build confidence in the use of digital applications. Help prepare and manage the tender for commissioning training organizations. Manage the delivery of commissioned organizations and ensure outputs are delivered.
- Governance experience to manage the digital inclusion ecosystem and act as the secretariat for the digital inclusion governance board.
- Produce and manage a detailed Project Action Plan, outlining a clear program of actions and milestones that can be effectively monitored against targets.
- Raise awareness and promote social tariffs.
- Manage the Birmingham Device Bank.
- Raise awareness of the Digital Switchover and its impacts and opportunities.
- Stakeholder engagement and influencing experience.
