Are you able to lead on both the strategic direction and operational areas of our private sector housing functions? Look no further! We are delighted to be recruiting for a Service Lead - Private Sector Housing to join our welcoming and supportive Housing & Fairer Stockton-on-Tees senior management team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Following the impending retirement of our current Service Lead, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Private Sector Housing team. You will be responsible for providing effective leadership of the service whilst also being a key member of the wider Housing & Fairer Stockton-on-Tees service management team. Our Private Sector Housing team are committed to improving housing conditions and protecting residents within the borough, ensuring everyone has a safe and well-maintained home.

We take a twin track approach, working positively with landlords who take their responsibilities seriously, whilst taking the strongest possible action against those who neglect their responsibilities, making full and appropriate use of legislation to achieve this goal. We are seeking an experienced individual who has significant knowledge of relevant legislation and practices.

As the Service Lead for Private Sector Housing, you will ensure that the team delivers services relating to the inspection of private rented properties, Houses in Multiple Occupation and Empty Homes as well as delivering the Councils recently introduced Selective Licensing schemes. This is an exciting time to join the service as you will be instrumental in ensuring we are appropriately prepared for the formal introduction of the Renters Rights Bill.
