During a period of rapid expansion, GE Vernova is looking to recruit Project Engineering Leaders to work on exciting new projects within our Northern European Grid Solutions Business, covering the UK & Ireland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. You’ll be based at our Stafford office (approximately 3 days per week), with a flexible hybrid working system and reduced hours on Fridays.

As a Project Engineering Leader, you will instruct, supervise, coordinate, and lead engineering activities in line with safety, quality, time, and cost criteria. You’ll serve as the technical lead for electrical design and engineering of large energy projects, including preparing specifications, managing deviations and clarifications, and attending FATs and SATs.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating design activities.
  • Managing the project design budget.
  • Overseeing design change processes.
  • Supervising engineering efforts whether done internally or by partners.
  • Ensuring technical coordination of the Grid Solutions Project.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Issue and consolidate provisional drawing lists, integrating submission deadlines.
  • Manage the global schedule of engineering activities, ensuring coherence with other project functions such as procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of technical interfaces, establishing exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and contractors.
  • Ensure on-time, high-quality design delivery to stakeholders, including partner documentation.
  • Support project change management in large and complex projects.
  • Lead and coordinate design teams, supported by primary, secondary, and civil designers.
  • Monitor the engineering budget, identify savings, and flag additional costs to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews according to EMH procedures and project strategy.
  • Manage scope and design changes, and prepare claims and variations for approval.
  • Analyze customer requirements, ensure compliance, and manage potential changes.
  • Represent customer interests in design decisions as requested.
  • Validate designs during customer acceptance.
  • Manage project documentation status, including approvals and comments.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications and supplier documents for procurement.
  • Check design effectiveness against contract requirements, aiming for cost optimization during all design phases.

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a lead engineer in an EPC environment.
  • Successful track record in project technical management within multidisciplinary teams and multiple interfaces, involving international products.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution industry essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills advantageous.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy systems beneficial.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems beneficial.
