TaxAssist Accountants are the largest network of accountants, currently working from over 300 locations throughout the UK, who focus their accountancy skills specifically on small businesses and taxpayers needing a tax return in the UK. They specialise in providing accountancy services, tax returns, payroll, bookkeeping, tax savings and tax advice to small businesses.
About the role:
We currently have a vacancy for a Practice Accountant to help to provide and deliver high quality tax, accountancy & VAT services with the personal touch that our small business clients demand. You will work closely with all the existing team and will be taking a role in the preparation and filing of work.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Much of the accounts work is for small businesses to £500,000 t/o.
- The Practice has been operating for 22 years and has established processes in place, along with access to excellent ongoing training & technical support in all aspects of the role.
- You will have the opportunity to be client facing and take on a range of new and existing clients to manage.
The role includes the following duties and therefore you are required to have technical experience in:
- Preparing of Self-Assessment Tax Returns and accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
- Preparing Ltd Company year-end accounts and Corporation Tax Returns.
- Preparing VAT Returns along with Online Submission.
Any new training will be provided in learning the practice software, however, experience with Sage accounts production and tax software TaxCalc would be an advantage.
You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills with access to the TaxAssist National Training Academy, providing a wealth of exciting opportunities for the right candidate.
What we need from you:
- Proven accounts and taxation experience and ideally will have worked in practice for a minimum of 5 years.
- Relevant and recent practice experience and be used to working on your own initiative.
- Ideally qualified or studying towards ACCA/ACA/AAT or hold an accountancy degree.
- Excellent working knowledge of accounts preparation and computations of taxes.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and strong business acumen.
- Tax knowledge must be up to date.
- Good IT skills.
- The ability to develop strong client/colleague relationships.
- Exceptional communication/presentation skills.
- Highly organised and be able to work unsupervised to strict deadlines.
- Drive & ambition with a high focus towards customer service.
- Must have a good command of the English language (both spoken and written) as the job involves writing of technical emails to clients.
