The Role: Thomas Lyte is looking for a skilled and talented senior silversmith, with ideally 10 years’ experience. Your role will entail crafting and restoring some of the world’s most iconic sporting trophies as well as an array of bespoke pieces, both modern and historic. In return we will pay a market leading salary, together with annual bonus, private medical cover and long-term incentives. As with all roles within our workshop, we must emphasise that total concentration and focus is required at all times to ensure the safety of all personnel. This is a busy working environment and successful applicants will need to be fully conscious and mindful of the pace and strength of machinery being operated.
Location: This role will be primarily based at our state-of-the-art workshops in East London (Hainault IG6).
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the team to create, restore, repair bespoke trophies, awards and objet from 20cm to 60cm in height
- Liaising with colleagues in polishing, plating, engraving and administration
- Assisting with quality control of the finished products to ensure that the highest standards are maintained
- Actively contributing new ideas to the dynamic environment and working closely with staff throughout the company
- Understanding and complying with the Health & Safety protocols in the workshop
Skills and Experience:
- Preferably 10 years’ experience or more in the silversmith trade
- Knowledge in the use of workshop equipment including lathe, milling machine etc.
- Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities
- Capacity to grasp concepts and problem solve
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain precise standards and ensure the highest levels of quality at all time
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks and be commercially aware
- Good communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact well with others
- Must be comfortable working with brass, copper and precious metals
- Knowledge in 3D design and printing
