Skills and Experience:

  • The person will have proven experience in cooling systems, knowledge of heat dissipation and heat transfer, fluid dynamics, component design and selection, piping design, control system specification, instrumentation specification and selection.
  • Proven ability in product design, validation and industrialization.
  • Knowledge/understanding of pure water cooling of high-power and high-voltage design and control issues.
  • Proven ability of managing supplier and customer.
  • Design for X (DFX) (e.g. manufacturing, cost, size, weight, efficiency, performance, test, maintenance).
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Specification & report writing and reviewing.
  • Ability to prepare P&ID drawings is essential and the ability to use 2D drawing packages to prepare GA and layout drawings is desirable.
  • Design & type testing programmes.
  • Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines and good at sharing knowledge.
  • EHS compliance ability.

Responsibilities:

  • The cooling engineer will interface with the cooling plant supplier who will realize the design based on specification and our customer requirement.
  • Cooling system scheme design for HVDC & FACTs.
  • Prepare the cooling plant specification prior RFQ.
  • Compile the not to exceed dimensions.
  • Review the mechanical drawings which includes pump unit general arrangement, treatment unit general arrangement, cooling room layout, coolers layout, pipe routing, civil guide drawings, and support structure guide drawings.
  • Review of electrical drawings which includes Motor control centre and control cubicle general arrangement, single line diagram, circuit diagrams, cabling diagrams.
  • Validate the equipment sizing, specification.
  • Instrumentation specification and selection.
  • Preparation of spare part list, special tool list, commissioning spare part list for pure-water cooling systems.
  • Witness the cooling system testing at the supplier facilities.
  • Supervise the cooling system installation & commissioning at customer sites.
  • Perform technical evaluation of suppliers proposals and documentation.
  • Compile DFMEA and design document and know how to apply PFMEA.
  • Decisive in addressing technical hurdles and maintaining performance.
  • Review design documentation from the cooling plant supplier.
  • Ability to undertake deep technical reviews of technology with engineering experts.
  • Innovation on new technical ideas for patent applications.
  • Work closely with supply chain for cooling system components.
  • Integration with other departments (engineering, manufacturing, S&P, SQA) for product development and support tendering and project delivery.
  • Actively broadening and deepening HVDC cooling system knowledge and share specialized expertise to other engineers.
  • Familiarity with REACH compliance and environmental impact of their work.
  • Strict adherence to Zero Deviation policy and promote EHS within the team.
  • Occasional international travel for supply chain integration.
