Our client, a global leader in manufacturing and distributing construction materials, is seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to join their finance team in South Leeds. About the Role

As a Financial Accounting Manager, you will oversee the Accounts Payable (AP) & Expense team, ensuring smooth financial operations while managing tax returns, audits, internal controls, and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while leading a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Accounts Payable (AP) & Expense team, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense claims.
  • Oversee year-end group reporting, statutory financial statements, and audit planning.
  • Prepare and submit company tax returns, VAT filings, and manage responses to tax audit enquiries.
  • Work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax computations and timely payments to HMRC.
  • Conduct internal control testing across business areas and provide comprehensive supporting evidence.
  • Review and enhance the internal control system to improve compliance and efficiency.
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior management.
  • Support the finance team in smooth month-end and year-end financial closures.

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong experience in managing accounts payable, tax returns, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Proven experience in leading finance teams and improving operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
