Overview

Criminal Duty Solicitor / 2+ PQE / Merseyside / Up to £50,000 (DOE)

The Role

The successful candidate will join a well established criminal department and handle a varied caseload of criminal defence matters. The role will involve advising and representing clients at all stages of the criminal process including police station attendances, Magistrates’ Court matters and preparation of cases progressing to the Crown Court. You will undertake Duty Solicitor work as part of the firm’s rota, manage your own caseload with appropriate support and provide clear, practical advice to clients during often challenging circumstances. The role offers strong exposure to hands-on advocacy and the opportunity to build trusted client relationships within the local community.

The Candidate

Applicants will be qualified Solicitors with at least 2 years’ PQE and will hold Duty Solicitor accreditation. You will have experience handling a range of criminal defence matters and be confident working independently including undertaking police station and court work. Strong communication skills, a calm and professional approach and a genuine commitment to criminal defence are essential. You will also be a team player who is keen to contribute to the ongoing success and reputation of the department.
