I am recruiting for an Apparel Designer to join an established high street retailer based within their Manchester head office. As a talented clothing designer, you will be supporting the Design Manager and working closely with the buying and creative teams. Be continuously aware of new emerging trends and ensure these are reflected in your collections.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Deliver balanced and extensive design research e.g. using directional shopping, fabric fairs, catwalk awareness to create unique stand out product lines.
- Undertake market research to identify the latest trends, colours and fabrics and analysing competitors' ranges.
- Creation of mood board/packs for design presentations.
- Provide insight on initial samples, ensuring that the finished garments match initial design specifications.
- Liaise with buying to ensure that the range can realistically be delivered within the costs/margins.
- Attending factory visits and competitive shopping trips within the UK and internationally, reporting feedback to the relevant internal teams.
Key requirements for the role:
- Proven experience as a Designer within a fast-paced, fashion environment is essential.
- Educated to Degree level, ideally within Fashion/Textiles/Graphic Design.
- Strong skills with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat & Photoshop.
- Naturally creative.
- Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced, ever-changing fashion market.
- Be a strong communicator with excellent organisation skills.
