Our client has a brand-new staff opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join them on a permanent staff basis. This position is for the new import-export terminal in Grangemouth.

About the role: The purpose of the Maintenance Engineer is to provide mechanical and maintenance engineering support and leadership to the Terminal Assets within the Grangemouth Tank Farm, the West Jetties, and the Road Terminal. This will include managing the integrity of both static and rotating equipment. The role will also manage tank overhaul and project construction activities, via the supervision of qualified 3rd party engineering resources. The Maintenance Engineer will also be the Technical Authority for the Mechanical suite of GMPs and standards.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Mechanical Technical Authority: Act as Mechanical technical authority, responsible for maintaining and auditing compliance with the following management procedures and associated mechanical standards. Delegated responsibility from the Terminal Manager for ensuring legislative requirements related to mechanical/civil engineering are defined and met by the terminal business.
  • Maintenance: Lead the Maintenance team and coordinate 3rd party maintenance contractors, providing engineering support to assist the maintenance teams in non-routine activities. Owner of Maintenance KPIs including but not limited to Inspection compliance, Preventative maintenance compliance, breakdown and backlog data, cost control. Also providing input to the site Process Safety Management KPIs. Ensure maintenance is conducted in compliance with the site standards. Generate and manage the annual maintenance budget and the longer-term capex requirements of the Terminal. Accountable for defining the technical input to all maintenance and specialist contracts with third parties. This role is the technical owner for all maintenance and specialist contracts. Accountable for the selection of competent contractors. Management of stores and critical spares.
  • Asset Care: Provide mechanical engineering support to the terminal. Own the asset register and Terminal Asset Life Plans. Define Asset care policies for assets, covering condition monitoring, inspection and ensuring appropriate asset life plans, spares and PMs exist for all major equipment items. Ensure the CMMS has the correct technical details, master maintenance documents and properly schedules preventive maintenance to achieve the Asset Care Policy. Develop and install engineering improvements for the asset equipment.
  • Manage 3rd party Inspection Resource: Direct the 3rd Party Inspection process to ensure compliance with the Statutory and Integrity inspection schedule including approval of written schemes of examination. Authorise and provide scopes for repair programs resulting from inspection reports.
  • Overhauls/Construction Management: Manage the planning and execution of Tank Overhaul programme, as defined in the Asset Life Plan, coordinating all in-house and 3rd Party resources. Manage the planning and execution of all construction activities associated with the Terminal Development Programme.

Special Features: Deputise for the Terminal Manager. Occasional out of hours. Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned events. Required to proactively challenge working practices and engineering standards where business and engineering benefits can be achieved. Understanding of multi-disciplinary issues which impact on project and overhaul delivery.

What you will need?

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Technical Competence & HSE Behaviours): Mechanical Engineer with manufacturing experience at a professional level, ideally within a Terminal environment and with maintenance and overhaul experience. In-depth mechanical engineering – both static and rotating equipment. Construction/Overhaul management skills. Project Execution experience.

Behavioural Competencies (Working with People, Persuading/Influence, Communication, Delivering Results & Resilience): Capable to manage and provide leadership. Ability to problem solve, with ability to demonstrate systematic approach. Proactive approach - High level of drive, motivation and commitment.
