This role is at the heart of the Building Control team at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You will oversee key administrative functions within the Building Control Authority, ensuring that applications, notices, and certifications are handled in compliance with statutory requirements and ISO 9001 quality management standards. Additionally, you will support surveyors, deliver exceptional customer service, and ensure all relevant charges and payments for building control applications are processed.
Some main duties include:
- Manage building control applications, notices, and certifications in compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards.
- Ensure building control application payments and charges are processed, including phased arrangements for major applications.
- Ensure all customer and public enquiries are handled professionally.
- Validate all building control applications to confirm they meet statutory requirements and internal processes as outlined in the quality management system.
- Process notifications from statutory bodies and the Building Safety Regulator in line with the quality management system.
Ideally you will have experience in a building control role and understand the purpose of building control and its objectives within a Local Authority. Strong knowledge of quality management and quality standards and experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment. You may have worked in a highly regulated environment such as Highways or Environmental Health and have strong transferable skills. A positive and confident communicator both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate at all levels. Technically astute, with experience in interpreting building plans and knowledge of managing financial systems.
