Process Engineer
A growing design and engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to lead the development and delivery of advanced treatment and process systems across a range of industrial and environmental sectors. This is a hands-on technical role for a Process Engineer passionate about engineering problem-solving, system optimisation, and sustainable infrastructure.
The company supports major UK infrastructure programmes, offering bespoke process solutions across multiple frameworks and long-term projects.
The Responsibilities of the Process Engineer include:
- Design, evaluate, and optimise chemical and mechanical treatment processes based on client needs and industry standards.
- Develop key design outputs including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass balance calculations, and control philosophies.
- Carry out performance simulations and data modelling to validate and improve system design.
- Support lab testing and pilot-scale trials to troubleshoot and enhance treatment solutions.
- Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams across engineering and project functions to ensure efficient project execution.
- Contribute to the integration of new technologies, digital tools, and innovative methods into design delivery.
- Lead technical discussions and present solutions to internal teams, partners, and clients.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to early-career engineers within the team.
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of process control systems, instrumentation, and chemical treatment principles.
- Experienced in detailed process design across industrial systems, ideally with exposure to infrastructure or environmental protection applications.
- Skilled in interpreting and producing technical documentation, including process simulations and risk assessments.
- Proactive communicator with the ability to manage multiple technical inputs and align cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable engaging in R&D, trialling new solutions, and integrating findings into engineering design.
- Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., IChemE, IMechE) is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally for project needs.
