Our client is a leading National supplier of industrial products to various industries. Recent investment has been made in new products to support their future growth, which has resulted in a vacancy for an experienced H&S Co-Ordinator.

Role Purpose

To effectively oversee the site's Health & Safety management systems and requirements to ensure its adherence to the companies' H&S standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • To assist the GM in complying with Group H&S policies and procedures, developing best practice.
  • To maintain the internal H&S audit schedule, reporting regularly to the General Manager.
  • To attend local H&S & Management meetings.
  • To complete spot H&S checks and mini-audits regularly throughout the year and report accordingly to the GM.
  • To assist in H&S events, ensuring that all records are maintained as per the H&S Audit Grid, checking, and updating T100 accordingly.
  • To advise all nominated representatives of all H&S actions due at the beginning of every month, as per the Audit Grid.
  • Produce and regularly update local Master Contractors Lists.
  • To compile a record of the location of local department H&S documentation, keeping the record up to date by regular auditing.
  • To send all accident information to the H&S Department mailing list according to the procedure, and to ensure that any potential RIDDOR accidents are tracked and notified to H&S department so they can report within the legal requirements.
  • To notify near misses to the Technical Dept. Co-ordinator upon completion.
  • To monitor all accidents and any reported near misses, ensuring that any actions identified are carried out by the individual accordingly.
  • Develop and implement safe systems of work and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all documentation has been properly completed following accidents.

Performance Measures

  • Produce an annual site Risk Assessment Plan and track completion.
  • Monitor near miss reports, participate in engagement programmes to promote use at all levels and analyse data for any 'hotspots'.
  • Ensure investigation records are completed to the required standard and timescales.
  • Ensure activities on the audit grids are completed within given timescales.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Level 3 H&S Qualification (NEBOSH Certificate) or NVQ 3.
  • Competent at the use of databases (T100), Excel and Word. Ability to manipulate data and produce relevant charts and graphs.
  • Good written communication skills, ability to convey information into clear and concise reports.
  • Experience of working within a team and communicating assertively to both managers and the workforce.
