The Tax and Succession Planning Team

The Tax and Succession Planning Team is a newly formed team, being led by Partner and Divisional Head, Sally Smith alongside Partner, Peter Stephens, Senior Associate, Scott Vanes and Legal Secretary, Becky Shepherd. This role will be based in the Kidderminster office with the wider team working from Worcester, Kidderminster and Ludlow offices. In addition, we also have offices in Birmingham, Bromsgrove and Telford.

The role is office based, you will be fully supported by the team upon joining in all aspects of the role and Division. This is an amazing opportunity to join a newly formed team at an exciting time when we are expanding our client base across in this niche area of expertise.

Day to day, you’ll be successful in this role if you are:

  • An experienced Legal Secretary or Paralegal, with knowledge of working within a Private Client team on a diverse range of Private Clients matters.
  • You will have excellent client service and interpersonal skills, an ability to build long term relationships with clients.
  • Be a proactive team player, have a positive can-do attitude, manage multiple tasks and committed to delivering high quality work with an eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist, under supervision, with the progress of wills, tax & succession matters in addition to the creation of lifetime trust matters.
  • To attend client meetings with your Fee Earner, take accurate records to prepare attendance notes.
  • To prepare first drafts of documentation and letters of advice.
  • To undertake legal research and present findings for your Fee Earner’s use.
  • To assist with file management, and administrative duties as required.
  • To assist your Fee Earner in progressing the client matters, advise the clients of progress where appropriate.
  • To support clients on behalf of the Fee Earner, in person or by telephone and to take accurate instructions for your Fee Earner’s attention.
  • Diary management - make appointments and maintain accurate diary entries.
  • To manage filing, storage and retrieval of client’s papers and files, opening and closing of files, storage of deeds and other papers all in accordance with the mfg policies.
