Due to our ambitious growth plans, we are on the lookout for an experienced and ambitious Mechanical Engineer.

As Mechanical Engineer at Fortress Safety, you will be involved in the design, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical and electro-mechanical products and assemblies for Fortress’ ever expanding product portfolio as well as the maintenance and development of existing products.

This role will offer you great development if you are an existing Engineer wanting greater exposure to mechanical product design and development and other similar aspects of engineering, or if you are a more Junior Engineer wanting to use your existing knowledge and gain a broad experience in a successful manufacturing company.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Design and develop mechanisms, components, and assemblies within new and existing Fortress products.
  • Generate part drawings and specifications using 3D CAD packages.
  • Prototype and test designs and products.
  • Introduce parts and designs into manufacturing and production.
  • Assess and document products against specifications and standards.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Technical Support teams where necessary.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or similar qualification in Mechanical Design Engineering or comparable subject.
  • Experience in 3D CAD software CREO and Windchill (other similar CAD software will be considered).
  • Ability to accurately read, layout and create 2D Engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of geometric tolerances and other similar Engineering principles.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience or understanding of ERP software(s) (Microsoft Navision preferred).
  • Understanding of basic Electronics and Mechatronic principles.
  • Experience of hands-on approach to product testing.
