Purpose: To provide the site with technical support in order to develop the equipment, technology and site standards to maintain product consistency, equipment reliability and maximise the asset capability.

Imparting/coaching process knowledge to teams. General day to day supervision of mechanical engineering team in order to attain the highest possible standards of operation and maintenance so downtime is minimised to within budget cost and available resource.

Problem solving to root cause safely, effectively and in a timely manner in order to meet business needs is essential. Provide future proofing through Mill/site projects and or upgrades for site plant and processes. To deputise for the Engineering Manager when necessary.

The mechanical lead is instrumental in the site achieving production / down time targets, driving positive change by developing and refining the PPM system, investigating mechanical failures and learning from previous events. Ensuring spares procurement and refurbishment of repairable items is properly controlled both for in-house and external repairs. Assisting with the specification, installation and commissioning of CAPEX projects to improve the site.

About the Person: Able to handle multiple work streams and prioritise their work list to business requirements, the mechanical lead will have in depth technical knowledge and experience in heavy engineering. Experience with pumps, bearings and rotating equipment is essential, experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, overhead cranes and high pressure steam systems would be advantageous.

Keen and ambitious, the right candidate will have a positive attitude and be confident leading a team of 6 mechanical engineers along with the development of a mechanical apprentice, setting their daily tasks by producing a weekly plan of PPM and reactive work as well as setting and managing improvement projects. Dedicated and approachable, the ideal candidate will be committed to ensuring the department's success.
