The Head of Manufacturing will oversee the operations of the manufacturing function within the business. The role ensures the efficient use of resources and compliance with all safety and quality standards while driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and be accountable for the manufacturing department, setting goals and objectives. Provide training and development to the team, and evaluate performance. Develop strategies to drive KPIs across all areas of manufacturing, including managing budgets and financial performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Operational & Financial Oversight: Manage the purchasing of raw materials, cost control, and profitability. Implement operational goals, including exceeding customer expectations for product quality, maximising efficiency, and optimising production levels. Drive cost reductions and process improvements through the introduction of innovative manufacturing processes.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws and regulations related to food safety and labelling. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and fire regulations are strictly adhered to.
- Collaboration & Innovation: Work collaboratively with other departments such as R&D, marketing, and sales to align production with customer needs and business strategies. Contribute to the overall business strategy and development, ensuring efficient product launches and timely delivery of new products.
- Continuous Improvement: Design and implement Lean Six Sigma projects to optimise processes and improve efficiencies. Identify and act on opportunities for cost savings and process enhancements.
- Other Duties: Participate in performance reviews and attend training courses as required. Comply with all company policies and take responsibility for personal development. Complete any other duties as reasonably requested by management.
Experience Required:
- Extensive experience in manufacturing strategy, project management, team management, and business acumen.
- Significant leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop teams.
- In-depth knowledge of LEAN processes and food safety standards (BRC or IFS).
- Strong understanding of poultry processing, including butchery and industrial cleaning.
- Advanced financial acumen and cost management expertise.
- Highly skilled in team management and delegation.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
Training/Qualifications Required:
- Desirable: Food Safety Level 3.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
- In-house training will be provided as required.
