About the role

We have a brand-new opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Bournemouth or Reading offices. Bournemouth: we have maintained an office on the south coast for more than 45 years, building significant building services expertise and creating long-term relationships both locally and further afield. Reading: This is a thriving town that is seeing an exponential growth across many sectors. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff delivering a consistent high-quality service for clients, ensuring that repeat and new business opportunities are developed and profitability is achieved. In this key and varied role, you can expect to:

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across a number of building sectors.
  • Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery.
  • This is a client-facing role, so you will be attending project meetings and disseminating / translating the brief within the project team.
  • Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
  • Mentor and support our ‘next gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates.

About you

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
  • Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
  • Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors/architects in a design-oriented/consultant role.
  • Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
  • Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
