Reporting to the Group CEO Chief of Staff, and working as part of a small CEO Office team, the CEO Engagement Officer supports the planning and execution of M&G Group CEO’s engagement strategy and is responsible for the review and preparation of CEO briefings, speeches and talking points, ensuring that the Group CEO is briefed to a high standard.

The key elements of the role are:

  • Support the planning and optimisation of where the Group CEO spends their time, ensuring a balanced mix of internal and external engagement, working in close coordination with Group Corporate Affairs, Regulatory Engagement and Business teams.
  • Reviewing and preparing CEO briefing memos, speeches and talking points, ensuring the Group CEO is appropriately briefed ahead of external meetings and events.
  • Liaising with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of CEO meetings, events and country visits.
  • Ensuring meticulous tracking and follow up on actions from external meetings.
  • Provide support to the Group Chief of Staff in preparation of Group CEO reports and briefings for the Group Executive Committee and Group Board.

Job scope:

  • Proactively identify requirements producing and reviewing briefing materials and speaking notes for all Group CEO engagements for example client meetings and internal visits.
  • Produces consistently high quality briefings, reports and talking points as required (including but not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, Excel, reports, agendas & minutes).
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels across the business to understand key strategic initiatives, developments, and issues.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc projects as directed that arise across a wide range of topics and be responsible for identifying solutions and delivering / driving embedment.
  • Work closely with the Group CEO EA and Group Chief of Staff to ensure the appropriate prioritisation of the Group Chief Executives Engagements.
  • Develop and present regular reporting on Group CEO “time spent” across internal and external engagements working closely with Group CEO Chief of Staff and Group CEO EA to optimise the Group CEOs forward schedule.
  • Support ongoing management reporting of Group wide risks including M&G Group Plc top risks, and work with Group subsidiary stakeholders in carrying out the bi-annual assessments on behalf of the plc.
  • Support the management of M&G plc conflicts of interest and other regulatory requirements on behalf of the Group CEO.
  • Fosters and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of M&G and with key external stakeholders.

Core competencies required:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Flexible, reliable and proactive.
  • Highly organised with ability to track and close out numerous follow-up actions.
  • Operates with a curious mindset – to learn about new businesses, products and clients.
  • Constructively challenges to ensure the Group CEO and Chief of Staff are appropriately briefed to consistently high standard and that nothing is missed.
  • Exceptional standards of accuracy with high levels of attention to detail.

  • Able to maintain a positive attitude within a fast paced environment under pressure.
  • Equally effective at operating as part of a small close knit team whilst maintaining the ability to pro-actively pick up and run with the stuff that needs doing.
  • Ability to accurately and concisely summarise complex and detailed reports.
  • Comfortable briefing CEO / Board level executives in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrates a can-do approach to all tasks.
  • Operates with the highest levels of discretion and integrity.

  • Excellent communication and team working skills, comfortable working across all levels of seniority with executive management and Group Board stakeholders.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, demonstrating a variety of influencing styles to enable effective completion of tasks both individually and within groups.
  • Builds sustainable relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders in the business and externally.
  • Shows a desire to take the initiative, moving issues forward with clarity.

Core/desired experience:

  • Prior experience working in a fast paced and high pressure Executive Office or similar preferable.
