Royal Mail Group is seeking a dynamic and innovative Health & Safety Training and Communications Lead to create impactful H&S training and communication programmes across Royal Mail Group. Reporting directly to the Head of H&S Governance and Assurance, you will play a crucial role in mitigating risk and driving compliance so that H&S training and communication programmes are aligned to the overall H&S strategy and organisational profile.
About the role
As the Health & Safety Training and Communications Lead, you will:
- Develop and implement H&S training and communication programmes.
- Provide insights into health and safety trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Align programmes with the overall H&S strategy and organizational profile.
Key Accountabilities:
- Annual Communication Plan: Create and align with the H&S strategy, focusing on compliance and risk management.
- Lead Contact: Collaborate with Royal Mail Group Communications teams for all H&S-related communications and help embed safety message in overall business communications.
- Training Development: Partner with Learning Services to develop and maintain H&S training materials.
- Upskilling: Ensure H&S Field Team is proficient in training materials.
- Web-Based Training: Deploy and deliver H&S web-based training modules.
- Audit Integration: Incorporate audit findings and emerging risks into training and communication plans.
- Data Analysis: Use metrics to review and focus training and communication activities.
- Event Management: Plan and manage national H&S events.
- SHE Knowledge Database: Support the maintenance and governance of standards.
- Engaging Content: Create engaging content for the H&S function.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with the following skills, experience, and industry qualifications:
- Design and Innovation: Strong design capability and innovative approaches, outside-of-the-box thinking.

- Communication: Excellent communicator, able to engage, consult, influence, negotiate, and challenge while recognising alternative views.

- Relationship Building: Capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-Motivation: Requires limited supervision and is focused on achieving objectives.

- Training Background: Strong training background, able to effectively support the design and deployment of training content.
- Engagement and Communications: Experience in engagement and communications within a large complex organisation.
- Senior Management Experience: Experience functioning at a senior management level in a large complex organisation.
- Health and Safety Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
- Programme Development: Proven record of developing plans and implementing programmes.
- RMG Operations Knowledge: Desirable.
Qualifications:
- Essential Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner qualification or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or NEBOSH certificate and actively working towards a level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner qualification Or CIPD Training Qualification.
- Certified Member of the IOSH or equivalent professional safety body or equivalent; or working towards this qualification.
