We provide a range of services including cataract surgery, YAG laser treatment, glaucoma treatment, oculoplastics and general ophthalmology. Role Purpose

The post holder will contribute to the administrative function, actively assisting the multi-professional team in the provision of a quality service. They will assist in the ongoing administration of the department, booking of appointments/surgery, coordination of the care pathway and management of waiting lists.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Administration Manager to schedule all incoming referrals
  • Liaise with MDT team, local services, patients etc. making and receiving phone calls to schedule patients’ appointments
  • Undertake all the administration required for patient appointments/surgery; booking on the system
  • Support the management of waiting lists; involves adding patients to the waiting list, scheduling appointments and liaising with the relevant clinical staff
  • Use and maintain records for all patients
  • Liaise with professional and clinical staff within the service to discuss queries and action as required
  • Respond to enquiries by telephone or visitors to the service. Offer information when requested and, where possible and appropriate, take action to respond to queries directly
  • Undertake general office and clerical tasks, e.g. taking calls, processing referrals, scanning and photocopying
  • Undertake other duties as necessary to support the smooth running of the service and as requested by your manager
  • To be the first point of contact for all telephone calls and enquiries
