Our client, a local authority in the East Midlands, is seeking an experienced Interim Principal Asset Manager to support their property team in delivering effective asset management across their estate. This is a hands-on role focused on general property management, lease events, asset reviews and valuations.
The Role
As Principal Asset Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of estate management functions across a varied commercial property portfolio. You will play a key role in ensuring the council's property assets are managed efficiently, delivering value for money and supporting strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day property management across the council's operational and investment estate
- Undertaking lease renewals, rent reviews, and managing landlord and tenant matters (primarily lower value but varied)
- Supporting leasing activity and negotiations with tenants and occupiers
- Carrying out capital and rental valuations to inform decision-making
- Supporting or leading on asset review programmes and associated project work
- Advising on property issues and contributing to longer-term asset strategy
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience in commercial property / asset management
- General property management expertise - this is the core focus of the role
- Local authority experience
- Strong knowledge of lease renewals, rent reviews, landlord & tenant
- Experience in valuations (capital and rental)
- Experience in asset reviews and small-scale project management
