We are looking for an Engineering Apprentice to join our Maintenance Engineering team at Florette in Lichfield, WS13 8NF! The successful candidate will work in our food production factory and ensure the running and regular Mechanical and Electrical maintenance of our production lines creating ready-to-eat salad sold in all major UK supermarkets. Alongside hands-on work with experienced engineers and mentors, you will also study a 4 year Engineering apprenticeship course at Burton and South Derbyshire Campus at Level 2 and 3.

The successful candidate will need to be over 18 years old, due to the factory environment, and is able to drive and with their own transportation to commute to Lichfield for work and Burton/Swadlincote for college training. We are looking for someone who is driven, inquisitive, attentive, and not afraid to get their hands dirty! Experience in Engineering is not required, but would be beneficial. If you’ve either never held a wrench before, worked on your family car growing up, or previously studied engineering, then we want you to apply if you want to start your career in Engineering!

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Pay: £23,810 per annum, that scales with course progression

Course: Conducted by Burton and South Derbyshire College, situated at both their Burton campus and Swadlincote Campus with their state-of-the-art facilities.

  • Years 0-1: Level 2 Engineering Operative
  • Years 2-4: Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician

Skills and Experience Required:

  • 18+ or soon to be 18, due to the factory environment.
  • Full UK Driving License and access to own transportation, and willing to commute to Lichfield for work, and Burton/Swadlincote for training.
  • Maths and English GCSEs, at Grade 4/C or higher.
  • Experience or existing qualifications in an Engineering discipline is desirable, but not required.
  • A passion for Engineering and an inquisitive mind is essential.
  • Someone that is not afraid to get their hands dirty and ask questions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Maintenance team in ensuring that all production equipment is available to production in good order & working within capability limits.
  • Aid the Maintenance Engineers with the maintenance of plant/equipment through effective planned preventative maintenance (PPM), which will assist in maximising asset lifespan and minimising breakdowns.
  • Assist with fault finding analysis and problem solve the cause of plant/equipment breakdowns.
  • Support with asset care history logs for all major plant/equipment to assist in breakdown problem solving analysis and preventative maintenance programme.
  • Promote plant cleanliness and hygiene in all production areas after carrying out maintenance/repair.
  • Ensure that company quality and food hygiene standards and procedures are strictly adhered to at all times.
