About SPT
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. We run the Glasgow Subway, a host of specialist bus services and are responsible for delivering better public transport for all. SPT is the proud custodian of the Glasgow Subway. Our services call at 15 stations, stretching across the West End and City Centre of Glasgow. Over the next few years, we will be making history with huge investments that will affect all areas of operations, from new trains to stations upgrades and local community support.
About the Role
The Technician - Integrated Services is a member of the Maintenance team reporting to the Maintenance Supervisors. You will be responsible for routine preventive maintenance, examination, testing, fault-finding, repair and modifications to Subway assets and systems. This will include a range of Subway assets and systems including Rolling Stock, Signalling, Platform Screen Doors (PSD), CCTV, fibre optic and data systems and networks, radio systems, telecoms and control systems, Substations and any other Subway mechanical, electrical or electronic parts and systems. Full training will be given across all the integrated systems and you will attain, maintain and effectively utilise competencies across various technologies. You will work as part of a team across various disciplines and skills as required and direct the activities of non-craft and other technical personnel when appropriate.
About You
The successful candidate will have first-hand experience of working in a maintenance environment and of using a wide range of tools and equipment including diagnostic systems. You will have experience of working in a safety critical or highly regulated environment and be aware of health and safety. Experience of a railway or public transport industry is desirable. You will be qualified to SVQ3/SCQF (or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline. You will have the ability to work in an environment where a high level of concentration, vigilance and safety awareness is required. You will use your problem solving and trouble shooting skills on a variety of systems and equipment. You must be computer literate and able to adapt quickly to new technologies and software. Attention to detail and an aptitude to complete formal paperwork whilst recognising the impact of data quality and accurate reporting. A highly motivated, professional, reliable and capable individual you will be a team player with the ability to plan work, operate in a changing environment and react effectively to changing demands. You will use your good communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our services are delivered in a professional manner and deliver positive change.
Please note, this position falls into the high risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random & for-cause testing procedures. Full time hours will be 38 hours a week on a maximum 5/7 shift basis. You will be based in Broomloan Depot, Robert Street, Glasgow.
