This role is suitable for Consultants currently working within delay disputes, Delay Senior Consultants, as well as Senior Planning Engineers or Senior Planners seeking progression within disputes, with significant delay experience on live projects or contracts. Responsibilities and Duties
- Support senior staff on projects requiring planning and delay analysis expertise.
- Handle live planning work and delay claims on ongoing projects.
- Work on formal disputes preparing for adjudications and other resolution methods.
- Draft detailed expert witness reports for dispute resolution proceedings.
- Support expert witnesses in arbitration and litigation.
- Analyze project and program performance to identify root causes of distress.
- Participate in client meetings.
- Support colleagues with project deliverables.
- Assist clients, lawyers, and counsel in developing positions as needed.
- Research emerging industry technologies and stay updated on developments in your technical area.
- Advise clients on problematic projects, dispute avoidance tactics, and alternative resolution methods.
Desired Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant construction and engineering experience.
- Background in project management, planning, or engineering with experience managing programs, using planning software, and delay analysis techniques.
- Experience with delay analysis in formal disputes (adjudication, arbitration, litigation).
- Exposure to EOT claims and claims development/upstream/downstream in supply chains.
- Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and objectives.
- Motivated to advance a career in claims and disputes.
- Consistent employment history is preferred.
- Proficiency with Primavera, Asta PowerProject, TILOS, CEMAR, Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree in a construction-related field or equivalent qualification.
- Membership in professional bodies like CIOB or CIArb is advantageous.
- Relevant MSc in engineering or Construction Law and Disputes (LLM) is a strong plus.
