Westminster Community Mental Health Team Manager Band 8A
We are looking for two enthusiastic and highly motivated mental health professionals to lead St John\’s Wood PCN Mental Health Team, part of Westminster Community Mental Health North Hub.
The post holder will have an integral role in continuing to embed the new ways of working within each of these teams and provide effective day to day operational management of the team, ensuring that quality and performance standards of the team continue to excel. The team offers a broad range of interventions and specialisms including employment support, psychological interventions, Complex Emotional Needs pathway and peer support and has strong links with our GP partners through our triage and primary care workers.
You will have the leadership skills and adaptability to adapt to the changing needs and demands of providing mental health care, and the communication and networking abilities to effectively integrate all that the Hub has to offer to provide a high quality service to our users.
Central to the role will be understanding of our local population as well as how the community mental health team sits within wider context of the mental health system e.g. inpatient and other urgent care service provisions.

Main duties of the job
At a minimum you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Professional Registration as a Mental Health Nurse or Occupational Therapist with significant post registration experience
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
- Robust performance management skills
- Experience of multi-agency partnership working.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience, able to recognise the anxieties of others and help them to manage appropriately.
- Experience of undertaking appraisals and supervision within teams

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Overview of Main Responsibilities:
- To be the operational manager for one of the PCN teams within the Westminster Community Mental Health North Hub, responsible for the workload of the team and ensuring that priorities are met.
- To line manage staff within the Hub from a range of professions, including CPNs, OTs, Psychologists, Therapists, Lived Experience practitioners and administrative and support workers
- To ensure systems for the delivery of Dialog+ Care Planning are in place and that they are made available to service users
- To work within the relevant legislative frameworks (e.g. Mental Health Act (1983) Mental Capacity Act (2005)
- To promote a culture of service user choice and control within team members daily practice to be monitored and developed through supervision and appraisal
- To ensure that the team works within the relevant frameworks and policies for safeguarding vulnerable adults
- To ensure that services within the multidisciplinary team are well co-ordinated in order they are responsive and attuned to the needs of its service users
- To ensure that systems are in place for monitoring allocation, caseloads and clinical review processes
- To ensure that clinical supervision is given to all professional staff in the team and to ensure that staff work to high standards of professional practice.
- To demonstrate a high level of clinical competence both in relation to supervision of staff and direct face to face contact with service users
- To be a member of the Hub management team. To advise the Community Service Manager regarding the delivery of community mental health services and to be involved in identifying the resources needed in the team.
- To ensure that the service works in co-ordination with other community and Acute In-Patient services.
- To ensure effective liaison with other relevant agencies
- To maintain and develop administrative procedures regarding the recording of case records.
- To ensure that service users are involved in the development of the team and local services
- To facilitate the development of effective supporting structures for carers in line with CNWL guideline
