We are seeking a full-time Associate Director for our Manchester transport planning team based in Manchester. We offer a challenging and rewarding career working for a leading consultancy with a strong presence in the North West. You will join a growing team delivering a wide variety of interesting projects for clients in the private and public sectors.
Responsibilities:
- You will have demonstrable business development credentials ideally with a focus on the North West markets.
- This role will essentially be leading on work winning through established and developed client contacts, with an expectation of building a solid workload to support the development of a small team that will support and enhance the existing team in Manchester.
- This will need to be backed up by providing project management and technical support, managing staff and providing support with the mentoring and development of junior team members.
- The candidate will be expected to take individual responsibility for projects, manage them, and be the client’s main point of contact.
- Instruct, supervise and mentor junior staff as well as support their professional development.
- You will need to demonstrate relevant technical and market knowledge and experience of working on projects for the private and public sectors across the North West.
Requirements:
- Proven project management and business development capabilities (including proposal writing).
- Knowledge of the UK transport planning industry and the UK planning system.
- Extensive experience in preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Transport chapters for Environmental Statements, etc.
- Self-motivation and capability to undertake specific tasks with minimum supervision.
- Ability to manage own time to meet project deadlines.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Experience of delivering technically challenging projects.
- Experience of liaising / negotiating with public and private sector clients.
- Understanding of current design guides such as Manual for Streets and DMRB.
- Knowledge of the application of junction modelling software.
- Public Inquiry and Examination in Public experience would be beneficial.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or Masters in a relevant subject (e.g. transport planning, civil engineering, geography).
- Professional Accreditation, such as CMILT, TPP, MCIHT or MICE.
