Locomotive Fitter – Crewe –Perm Position £45,508 per year Shift working – (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) Opportunity for mechanical fitter / electrical fitter with experience of diesel engines to join the rail industry. Your New Organisation You will have a fantastic opportunity to work for an organisation maintaining a wide variety of different rolling stock including freight wagons and locomotives. Your New Opportunity Carry out general mechanical maintenance and repairs to all rolling stock rail vehicles on a variety of components such as air braking, hydraulic systems & diesel engines. Fault diagnosis and rectification on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Working to written maintenance instructions (VMI) to complete examinations and inspections of the trains you will be working with. Working to engineering drawings and diagrams. The Candidate You will have previous experience in a similar role and environment You will ideally have experience carrying out maintenance and examination work in a heavy mechanical environment, ie ex forces REME, HGV, buses and coaches, aircraft, or big engineering machines or maybe even locomotives or rolling stock already Anyone with Locomotive experience is especially welcome to apply You will be a team player with the experience to work independently – a problem solver with an aptitude to think on your feet and carry out a wide range of maintenance You will be ok working shifts earlies, lates and nights You must be able to pass a medical and drug and alcohol test Salary £44,181 + overtime – £50,000+ OTE You will have the opportunity to learn who to drive and shunt trains – an extra £1,000 per annum. Up to 6 training modules each worth an extra £1,500 per annum giving you the potential earnings of £50,000k plus These training modules to increase your salary include Shunter training and engineering modules from axle and bearings, electrical fault finding & Mentoring.
