A well-established engineering company is seeking a highly organised Transport Planner to oversee the planning and execution of deliveries and collections across the UK mainland.
The Role
- Assist the Transport Manager in overseeing the day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficient scheduling of deliveries and collections.
- Plan and coordinate up to 600 drops per week, managing a fleet that includes articulated lorries, rigid HGVs (equipped with mounted forklifts), and delivery vans.
- Allocate resources effectively, utilising both permanent fleet and hired-in capacity as required.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks, including scheduling, invoicing, and customer communication.
- Work closely with compliance teams to uphold all regulatory requirements, including vehicle maintenance, driver training, and safety standards.
- Support the continuous improvement of processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the overall success of the team by handling additional tasks as needed, particularly during high-demand periods.
The Candidate
- Proven experience in transport planning, ideally within a high-volume distribution environment.
- Experienced in a multi drop or collection environment.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations and fleet management.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
