A well-established engineering company is seeking a highly organised Transport Planner to oversee the planning and execution of deliveries and collections across the UK mainland.

The Role

  • Assist the Transport Manager in overseeing the day-to-day transport operations, ensuring efficient scheduling of deliveries and collections.
  • Plan and coordinate up to 600 drops per week, managing a fleet that includes articulated lorries, rigid HGVs (equipped with mounted forklifts), and delivery vans.
  • Allocate resources effectively, utilising both permanent fleet and hired-in capacity as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks, including scheduling, invoicing, and customer communication.
  • Work closely with compliance teams to uphold all regulatory requirements, including vehicle maintenance, driver training, and safety standards.
  • Support the continuous improvement of processes and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the team by handling additional tasks as needed, particularly during high-demand periods.

The Candidate

  • Proven experience in transport planning, ideally within a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Experienced in a multi drop or collection environment.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations and fleet management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Awareness of legal compliance, including FORS standards and health & safety regulations.
