We are looking for a Senior Debt Advisor to join our energetic and growing Advice Service Team that supports over 3000 clients a year. You will provide clients with an exceptional advice offer, including complex finance and debt casework. Community Links debt advice is FCA registered.

As Senior Debt Advisor you will:

  • Provide high-quality debt advice, including complex casework in accordance with Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines, and refer clients to relevant support systems where appropriate.
  • Provide an adaptable approach for clients by offering contact through face-to-face meetings, email, phone calls, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the advice team, as well as internal teams at Community Links and the wider Catch22 group.
  • Provide relevant support to clients so they gain a better understanding of debt management.
  • Manage a caseload of service users and ensure that all records are up-to-date.
  • Be a Qualified Debt Relief Order (DRO) Intermediary, or demonstrate a commitment to working towards this within the first six months in the role.
  • Be educated to degree level or possess a relevant advice/advocacy qualification.
  • Have an understanding of the voluntary sector and, in particular, knowledge of the strategic and policy environment in which the advice sector operates.
  • Manage volunteers, including recruiting, onboarding, and day-to-day management.

Place of work: Community Links offices (105 Barking Road) with a minimum of three days a week in the office.

Hours of work: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

Salary/Grade: £35,875 per annum / Practitioner.

Reports to: Housing Solicitor and Advice Programme Manager.

Level of screening: Enhanced DBS. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS and MoJ checks. This is a community-based role, with travel across various delivery and training sites across London. Remote working: Please note, in the main, remote working does not apply to this role.

28 days annual leave + bank holidays, rising to 33 days with service. Pension scheme with matching contributions of up to 4%. Discounted shopping opportunities. 1 or 2 work from home days can be granted as part of these roles for admin purposes; however, this is not contractually obliged but part of our wellbeing support.
