LCP is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing advice on insurance, energy, pensions, investments, employee benefits and health. We fuse human expertise with powerful analytics to shape a more positive future for our clients and people.
The Insurance Consulting department advises general insurance companies on reserving and financial risk management by building models to calculate capital requirements, supporting their analytics and underwriting, and helping meet regulatory requirements such as Solvency UK / Solvency II. The work we do involves assessing and quantifying the risks associated with future events to help manage this uncertainty for insurers and ensure they are financially robust. You will get to work across a diverse range of clients writing all types of insurance. This will provide you with a broad spectrum of interesting challenges and problem-solving opportunities.
As a consulting actuarial Analyst, you will perform technical analyses and modelling to answer our clients’ questions, communicating this in a way that’s simple, clear, and easy to understand. There are plenty of opportunities for client contact at the beginning of your career, whether by email, phone, face-to-face meetings, or corporate events. You will also have the opportunity to use and support the development of our analytics tools, using R and Python, including our multi-award-winning reserving platform InsurSight.
Key Responsibilities:- Analysing reserving data, using LCP InsurSight
- Building and extending models used to set reserves or capital, using a variety of coding languages (including R and Python)
- Performing validation testing for Solvency II internal capital models
- Participating in internal and external client meetings
- Drafting client reports
- Participating in market research projects and benchmarking surveys
We encourage continuous learning through professional qualifications (training to qualify as an actuary) and personal development training. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside leading professionals in the sector.
What We’re Looking For:- A Level Maths A Grade (taking into account any contextualisation of grades)
- Degree educated (minimum 2:1) or currently studying for a degree and on track to achieve a 2:1, in any subject
- IT skills – including experience with Microsoft software such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Programming knowledge in languages such as Python, R, C++, C# is desirable but not required
- An interest in insurance and awareness of topical issues
- Problem solving, numeracy and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills and evidence of coding ability and presentation skills
As well as joining a multi-award winning, fun, collaborative, people-first organisation where your personal and professional skills will be developed to make you the best you can be, we offer an attractive benefits package designed to promote your overall wellbeing so that you are able to perform to your full potential both in and out of work.
