Our global team of finance professionals partner with the business to provide trusted insights and forward-looking analysis, accuracy, efficiency, and control to frame and influence business decisions.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team. Group Financial Reporting (GFR) plays an integral role in the design, development, and analysis of externally disclosed financial reports to the various stakeholders of HSBC Group. Members of the team gain both breadth and depth of experience, with exposure to the end-to-end process of disclosure preparation and resolution of technical accounting and reporting issues in different disclosure areas.

As we look to accelerate the optimisation and automation of our financial reporting processes, we are building in-house capability to drive and deliver this. In this role, you will:

  • Manage and provide direction on all aspects of the external financial reporting (‘FR’) process for the consolidated HSBC Group.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to automate and optimise processes and controls within Group FR.
  • Own the design and delivery of FR automation initiatives, using existing and any new systems and tools.
  • Direct, design and deliver optimisation and streamlining of FR processes and how these interlink with other processes including regulatory reporting and MI.
  • Build tactical and strategic solutions to remediate and future-proof FR processes.
  • Implement the necessary control environment to provide assurance over consolidated financial information included in external publications (including analytical review and other appropriate procedures).
  • Business partner with subject matter experts in risk and other finance functions.
  • Deputise as the FR Lead as and when required and deal with senior stakeholders and possess the abilities to deliver results within agreed timelines and to work to tight deadlines.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience in tool development (e.g. variance analysis tools) with relevant coding knowledge (e.g. Python, Alteryx or equivalent).
  • Experience in project management involving multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Financial reporting experience within a large financial services institution, preferably a bank, in a Group capacity.
  • Fundamental understanding of the external disclosure requirements for a large bank.
  • Consolidation knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of IFRSs and awareness of other relevant regulatory and best practice reporting issues.
  • Collaborative, engaging, credible and methodical; being able to bring the numbers, policy and narrative to life (e.g., presenting to a wide range of stakeholders/senior management).
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders (all levels of seniority, businesses, and geographies).

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern. Being open to different points of view is important for our business and the communities we serve. At HSBC, we’re dedicated to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces - no matter their gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
