The Savings & Retirement Insurance Pricing team are responsible for producing the best estimate insurance assumptions and insurance capital assumptions for clients in our global markets. The team responsibilities are across Pension Risk transfer, Individual Retirement and Savings for Retirement products. We are looking to hire an AVP for our Insurance pricing team. They will be responsible for supporting our Netherlands clients through tender activity and ongoing technical/pricing work. They will also be responsible for managing the SLA pricing work on our UK flow treaties and managing the data preparation team. The successful candidate will be based in our London office, Tower Bridge House, St Katharine's Way.
You will lead a team of quote managers and quote teams to deliver high quality pricing analysis on quote opportunities, primarily for the Netherlands market, and also lead on various insurance pricing initiatives and projects. As an influential and innovative actuary, the role holder will be managing the production of quotes for clients. Your expertise in pricing, product development and experience analysis will support you as you work alongside the client solutions and deal pricing teams to deliver creative solutions to meet the needs of our clients. You will be responsible for delivering high quality pricing analysis on quote opportunities for clients and leading multiple opportunities in parallel through the internal governance process gaining significant visibility with the S&R Leadership Team, COO and CEO. As a creative thinker the role holder will support the development of PLRe pricing sophistication by understanding latest pricing and analytical techniques and continuously improving internal approaches.
Key responsibilities
- Develop a high quality and market leading pricing quote teams ensuring high levels of technical and market expertise.
- Be a key contributor to the S&R Insurance Pricing Team management.
- Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of insurance pricing and of industry trends.
- Responsible for ensuring those developments are considered and where appropriate reflected in the pricing of savings and retirement business as well as in the provision of technical support, risk assessment and pricing expertise to clients and colleagues.
- Ensure strong risk controls continue to be at the core of the processes and team culture.
- Support in the development of pricing methodologies and approaches, together with supporting timely implementation of treaties for Valuation purposes.
- Responsible for coaching and developing members of the insurance pricing team, to achieve team and company goals and individual performance standards.
- Support the Client Solutions team in building in new business acquisition, maintaining effective relationships with clients and promoting the Pacific Life Re brand.
- Supporting internal strategic projects including but not limited to the improvement of pricing processes, assessment of new rating factors for use in Pricing and working closely with R&D.
- Working closely with the Deal pricing team on our overall quote proposition to deliver the best solutions for our clients.
Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified actuary with relevant post qualified experience.
- Have strong and relevant experience in life (re)insurance and/or life consultancy, ideally with strong statistical pricing role.
- Have good knowledge of S&R products and associated insurance risks.
- Have strong analytical skills, combined with sound judgement and commercial awareness, to produce justifiable and practical pricing advice even where data is sparse or difficult to work with.
- Have a good understanding of the UK and global insurance market and savings & retirement products.
- Enable the development of junior members of the team, and encourage ownership and responsibility for their individual task in respect of the S&R line of business.
