We are seeking a talented and experienced Boys Wear Designer on a 7 month fixed term contract. You will have a passion for creating innovative and trend-forward clothing for boys aged 3-14. Your Role:
- Design Ownership: Take full ownership of designated categories within the boyswear range (ages 3-14), from initial concept through to final product, ensuring alignment with seasonal trends and brand direction.
- Project Management & Critical Path (CP) Ownership: Manage design projects from concept to completion, maintaining responsibility for timelines, milestones, and critical path management to ensure on-time delivery of ranges.
- Category Experience: Work across multiple categories within boyswear (e.g., outerwear, casualwear, occasionwear), bringing depth and breadth of design knowledge across a variety of product types.
- Collaboration & Communication: Build and maintain strong working relationships with the buying team and other cross-functional departments, including product development and technical teams, to deliver cohesive and commercially viable ranges.
- Trend Research & Inspiration: Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and attend relevant trade shows to ensure designs are current and reflective of market trends, while maintaining brand identity.
- Sketching & Tech Packs: Create detailed sketches, technical drawings, and design packs (including fabric and trim selections) for development and sampling stages.
- Problem Solving & Innovation: Provide innovative design solutions to meet both creative and commercial objectives, responding proactively to feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
- Presentation Skills: Present design concepts and mood boards to the design, buying, and senior management teams, ensuring clarity of design vision and commerciality.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- Proven experience designing boyswear (ages 3-14) with a strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of key category areas and a variety of product types.
- Relevant experience in a retail/supplier environment.
- Excellent knowledge of the whole design process, including critical path from start to finish, including knowledge of garment construction, textiles, and trims.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a strong focus on timelines, critical paths, and efficient delivery.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team environment, with the ability to form strong relationships with buying teams, product development, and technical teams.
- Strong creative skills with a keen understanding of market trends, customer needs, and commerciality in boyswear fashion.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), and CAD software for sketching and tech pack creation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
- High level of accuracy in all aspects of design and technical documentation.
