A leading international haulage company operating out of the port of Felixstowe is seeking dedicated and skilled HGV Class 1 Container drivers to join a busy transport team. The ideal candidates will be committed to safety and efficiency while delivering container shipments to and from the port and various locations. This role involves operating HGV Class 1 container vehicles and ensuring timely deliveries, making it essential for candidates to have experience in commercial driving. Responsibilities
- Drive container shipments to and from the port safely and efficiently to designated locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are adequately secured for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete necessary paperwork as required.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years proven experience as an HGV driver, preferably with container lorries.
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 driver's license with a maximum of 3 points and no significant endorsements.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation tools.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good physical stamina, as the role requires lifting heavy items and being on the move throughout the day.
