As a Finance Analyst in our Strategic Finance team, you will be responsible for the production, maintenance and communication of long-term strategic financial modelling. This covers P&L, capital and cash flow forecasting and associated sensitivity analysis. You will also support financial appraisals and provide insightful analysis, facilitating strategic decision making in areas such as capital structure, potential partnerships, fleet strategy, investments and deep dives into different areas of the business. With this, you will be a trusted advisor and facilitator of productive business & financial conversations. You will report to the Strategic Finance Manager and support the wider Financial Planning and Strategic Finance teams. This is a pivotal role and provides a great platform and grounding to really progress your career at Virgin Atlantic.
Day to day, some of your key responsibilities as our Finance Analyst will be:
- Owning and developing central long-term three statement (P&L, capital and cash flow) models and associated sensitivity models.
- Managing all inputs and stakeholders that feed into this process.
- Driving financial success through regular model updates and improvements, and providing forward-looking advice to the Leadership Team.
- Working closely with the Leadership Team and Corporate Development to formulate the Company's medium to long-term financial and strategic plans.
- Working closely with the wider Strategic Finance and Financial Planning teams to facilitate decision-making in areas such as capital structure, potential partnerships, fleet strategy, investments and deep dives into different areas of the business.
- Assembling and producing regular reporting and analysis, developing insights from past performance and offering detailed insight into forecasts showing risks and opportunities.
- Communicating insights effectively to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Working with the wider Finance team to improve processes and finance efficiency and bring about a well-controlled environment.
About you: Are you an effective communicator, with a passion for financial modelling? In addition to the above, we are looking for our successful candidate to demonstrate the following:
- Desirable if you are either qualified or actively studying, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar (such as CFA).
- Expertise in using Microsoft Excel and other software tools to develop and produce high quality financial models.
- Comfortable analysing data, using a multitude of formulas and other key functionality to review, interpret and summarise key messages.
- Capable of using Microsoft PowerPoint and other reporting tools to produce slides, reports and decks that can share important financial messages.
- Experience of partnering with financial and business stakeholders, possessing the inter-personal skills to build a network of contacts.
- Proven ability to work at a fast pace, capable of working simultaneously on more than one task.
- Desirable but not essential is system-based experience with TM1, and data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Desirable but not essential previous experience in industry within a Corporate Forecasting / Corporate Finance setting or in practice within Transaction Services.
- Evidence of personally driving business improvement through financial analysis / process improvement.
