Job Description Mechanical & Process Engineering Technicians play a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient site operations by performing both reactive and routine checks and installations on systems and equipment. For this Thames Water scheme, apprentices will specialise in mechanical utilities, focusing on the maintenance and diagnostics of mechanical systems, motors, pumps, and components, as well as basic fabrication and welding. Duties and Responsibilities As a Utilities Engineering Technician, typical responsibilities include: Conducting inspections, condition monitoring, and reporting to ensure equipment functionality. Performing planned, reactive, and predictive maintenance on plant and equipment. Diagnosing and rectifying faults on a range of systems, including waste and water systems. Complying with relevant industry health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Using workshop machinery and tools for creating, repairing, and modifying components. Installing, maintaining, and commissioning equipment and components. Carrying out risk assessments and following safe working practices, including isolation procedures.
